My HP NAS rig currently only has 1TB and 2TB data drives in it. A while ago my intention was to upgrade the data drives to 4TB versions so I started the upgrade by putting in a 4TB parity drive, and never got around to upgrading the data drives.

 

That 4TB parity drive has now died and has been set to disabled by Unraid and I can't afford a new 4TB drive. So my question is this:

 

Is it possible to put in a new 2TB parity drive since that is the size of the biggest data drive??

 

Or do I need to put in the same size parity drive as the one that died??
