Any suggestions on how this is done? im also looking into blocking them at my router, but blocking them on the NAS would work too and may be easier. Many thanks for your kind suggestions Dave Green
July 3, 201016 yr Author I really appreciate the hints, although im an engineer mac/pc for 30 years i have little in the way of unix skills. So, im still trying to figure out the basics, though i have some terminal window / unix command line i kinda have to look everything up. Can you recomend what i might study where to figure out some basic tasks: UNRAID core OS is - and a good study gude for the OS basics? Questions: like How to erase whats on 1 UNRAID drive volume (It wont erase due to .DS_STORE and other "dot" files using AFP. samba or the managemt tools) been trying for almost a week..... I have Trying to get the .dsstore chron task to run, but havent seen it in the logs and dont know how to do much of anything from the command line. Anyone know where i can get more details on command line and basic operations (copy delete navigate find) and maybe a specific reference of unraid command line commands..... Many Thanks!
July 3, 201016 yr UNRAID core OS is - and a good study gude for the OS basics? unRAID is based on Slackware linux but any basic linux guide will get you started. There is an unmenu package to delete the .DS_Store files from the drives. Check it out and see if it will work for you. Even if it will not the lines in the .conf file should get a cron job up and running for you. July 3, 201016 yr Blocking specific IPs is not the normal way of doing this. Normally you default DENY all and then allow only certain hosts.
