July 4, 201016 yr UPDATE: monitored the 'open files' when starting mediaportal, and it looks some large movie files are accessed (only one shfs entry): shfs 1972 root 6r REG 9,2 4699869220 55683 /mnt/disk2/Video/Movies/movie1/Movie1.mkv then shfs 1972 root 7r REG 9,2 7039516398 58846 /mnt/disk2/Video/Movies/movie2.mkv And it seems, the file that I wanted to show doesn't get accessed until that access is finished. shfs 1972 root 5r REG 9,2 733840338 311 /mnt/disk2/Video/TV Shows/Show1/Show1 S01E01.avi I would be willing to think MP is the guilty partye, if it hadnt worked just fine, in pre unRaid times! Hi, since moving all my media files (pictures, video, audio), I am having the problem, that mediaportal 1.1RC5 takes forever to start a movie/tv show on the unRaid 4.5.4 box right after MP startup. So, I start MP, change within the menu, no problem. But once I click a movie file to watch, it takes 4-5 minutes before it actually starts! After that it's fine, I can start, stop with no delay whatsoever. Additionally, if I start up MP and wait 5 minutes, I don't have the problem. So it looks like it is some initial update of MP (picture refresh, MP3 update?) that might be causing the issue. Interestingly I didnt have that effect, before moving my data to unRaid. It worked well with drives all over the place, local and networked. Not hugely problematic, just annoying, especially when you just start up the mediapc to quickly watch something. anyone else having that effect? thanks ps: mod, if there is a better subforum, please feel free to move
July 4, 201016 yr Author ... and after moving Movie1.mkv and movie2.mkv everything is fine! must have been something weird in these files, that MP didnt like. And these are pretty new, so I didnt have them pre-unRAID. So, I formally apologize in suspecting unRAID being the guilty party here!
July 4, 201016 yr I have found on several occasions, some media files that confuse parsers that try to extract certain info from the media file itself (tags, framerate, type of media, etc). If you are in a synchronous environment or it sucks down CPU or disk, you will see the behavior your described.
