July 5, 201016 yr The 4.5.5 Announcements thread was locked because a new release is out, but with that we lost the chance for some followups. So I am taking the liberty to repost this from there. (edit: I reposted it in the Announcement thread, but for some strange reason (paranoia?) moderator moved it here.) - - - - - - - If directory named 'extra' exists in root of Flash, invoke 'installpkg' on all files found there before invoking the 'go' script. What about the script callouts? We need one after emhttp knows the array is started and one when emhttp is stopping the array. The code already exists to run the mover on demand. Can we have emhttp call other scripts at these two events so we can have clean start/stop for other utilities. If not, can you have emhttp put dedicated messages for these events in the syslog? ...or, at the very least, change that "mdState=STARTED" to something else once array-stop procedures are initiated. This whole polling and guessing thing is really frustrating. Probably will be a 4.5.5 to add a couple drivers and some misc fixes. I can also throw in a few script call-outs as well.
July 5, 201016 yr Author I know it was said "in 5.0" is there a time frame? Whatever the time frame is, I imagine we'll go through quite a few betas before we get 5.0 to stable. That can take quite a while. 5.0-beta was promised for last Christmas. I'm cool with that, as long as we can get some sort of array-status notification in the 4.x-stable series.

That's why I suggested the idea of strategic messages in syslog. I figure it might be easier to add without too much code or logic addition.
July 5, 201015 yr This thread is off-topic from the 4.5.6 Announcement and you made me break away from working on 5.0 to move it. I already mentioned somewhere else that I want to end the feature additions to the 4.5 series. Release 5.0 is very close.

I'm already impressed by the current version. So i'm very curious what 5.0 brings!
