July 14, 201015 yr One Drive is now blinking red and "is unformatted blank". The rest of the array is functional The drive #8 COULD be reformatted as i have backups i believe - Though as an excercise - how to fix? How do i get unraid to rebuild the blinking drive #8 that wants to be reformatted? (I assume it got its FAT corrupted from non clean shutdown maybe?) Figured ASK before doing anything. WIKI was down yesterday.. HELP !! grin - A quick look in the FAQ etc did not seem to be a sinerio that covered one blinking red drive that you want the NAS to rebuild.. since the drive does not need replacement, in theory (Is new drive, and seems to be wanting format again is all) And on the second NAS array: - I have ONE DRIVE that refuses to mount via AFP - what the heck should i run to figure out what in the data is preventing the mount. All 11 other drives mount FINE under Samba / AFP - 11 Beach Balls and wont terminate.
July 14, 201015 yr Post Syslog so it can be determined WHY the drive is bad. It may be a failed write or maybe the drive wasn't detected at all (bad sata cable, bad power cable, bad sata port).
July 14, 201015 yr Post a syslog. un-formatted indicates (usually) a disk that cannot be mounted, or one that is in the process of being mounted after a non-clean shutdown. (We've seen it take 5 or 6 minutes to replay the transaction journal as it mounts the drive, during which it will say on older releases "unformatted" and on newer ones "Mounting Disks") Typically, it is a problem with the reiser file-system when a disk cannot be mounted. These can easily be fixed. If you are running version 4.5.3 of unRAID be VERY CAREFUL and pay attention before you press the "Format" button as it could re-format ALL your disks if all show as un-formatted. Post your syslog...
