July 22, 201015 yr I'm looking to move my unraid drives from system to a new system. I'm moving from a system with 6 on board sata, and a 8 port expansion. The new system will also have 8 on board sata, and the same 8 port expansion card. Do i just have to make sure that drive 1 - 6 on the MB and 7 - 15 are the same on the expansion board and put my usb stick in the new system?
July 22, 201015 yr First, print a copy of the main unRaid web interface screen which shows all the drive serial numbers and slot locations. Run a safety parity check. After installing drives in new system, re-assign them to the same slots as before. unRaid doesn't mind so much which drives are physically connected to which SATA ports, but they must be assigned to the same disk slots as before. Run another safety parity check.
