How do I actually move stuff on to the unRaid?

Featured Replies

Okay, I've got my first drive precleared (28 hours!!) and ready to start moving some stuff!!

Copying my music over first, I created a user share called Music, set to a split level of 2.

I did this, because the format will be:

/Music

----/MP3

----/LOSELESS

----/SORTME

----/HQAUDIO

etc...  Set it to include all discs, etc, etc., all permisions, etc...

The share now shows up when browsing SAMBA from my Mac, like it should... but SAMBA on Macs is a bit flakey, and it scares me to move 1TB of music over the network that way...

I tried using SFTP, but that won't connect... Plain old FTP connects, and sees "disk1" and "user", but both are empty, and it won't let me create new directories...

You can mount hard drives in the unRAID machine without making them part of the array.  Then you can do disk to disk copies at the unRAID console or in a telnet session.  Check out the SNAP add-on which makes it easy to do this.
