iJumbo
Would it be possible to add Infiniband / IPoIB support? Or IPoIB is already there but i can't find it ? Quote Link to comment
TheMutatedGamer
I would love this feature aswell, and from looking around on the internet a lot of people use infiniband NIC's already. there are already a lot of questions about this on reddit and other forums. it would be great if we can use our hardware to it's fullest extent. BVD
While it'd be great to have built in support, I'm guessing that in efforts to maintain as streamlined a kernel as possible, it's inclusion is unlikely. There are a couple options I'd guess - 1. Request support for RDMA via plugin creation here: https://forums.unraid.net/forum/60-plugin-system/ 2. Simply manually install the driver from the slackware repo / compile a custom kernel with the drivers baked in. I messed around a bit with slackware+IB a while back, and while it's really very interesting, the only people who I believe really 'need' it would likely also be the folks capable and willing to roll their own. UnRAID isn't really marketed towards the distributed datacenter types who'd typically need IB... Need, meaning that 10Gbe for whatever reason doesn't suit their needs. Personally, I just went to a bonded 10Gbe connection and never looked back. I barely come close to saturating a single 10Gb interface as it is with my 24 disk zfs setup under any typical scenario (i.e. while still running my VMs and docker containers), and the only reason I had for IB beyond that was for internet points lol.
