smellycat3
Hi everyone, just got my unraid setup going a few days ago and it's been great. I just have 1 question. My box is located upstairs in my house and connected via gigabit to my htpc in bedroom. What I would like to do is connect it to my router, downstairs, to be able to stream my itunes music. However, as the box is upstairs it's not near my router and i don't want to route more cabling around the house, at least not yet. I do have an old D-Link 10/100 card and wireless bridge lying not being used. Would I be able to add the 2nd ethernet card and be able to configure it for DHCP then plug in the wireless bridge and connect to my router and keep the built in gigabit connection on a static IP for HTPC? router is on - 192.168.1.1 static - 192.168.0.1 Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks. Link to comment
WeeboTech
It's possible, but only by modifying the /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf. Then restarting /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 restart Link to comment
smellycat3
Do i do this via telnet or do i edit files on usb stick? Link to comment
smellycat3
I've had a go at testing (/sbin/ifconfig eth1 192.168.1.7) to see whether i get enough signal from the wireless bridge and it looks like i don't. MP3s are choppy. Will probably have to invest in a set of homeplugs/powerline adapters or route some cabling. Link to comment

Try moving the direction. if you in an upper floor and the antenna is pointing up, then try pointing it down. I read allot of pages in regards to Wifi and antennas Link to comment
smellycat3
I tried moving it about before and it does alleviate it to some extent but i still get issues. This was just a test to see whether it was possible and it is but there are drawbacks Link to comment
