How to get TXZ packages installed on 6.4?

Featured Replies

I have found other posts indicating that if I put a TXZ package in /boot/packages, Unraid will automatically install them. I realize that this is a last resort and we should be using a docker container or a plugin, but I'm trying to muscle my way through with least effort possible to get MKVToolnix on my unraid server since I can't get it working any other way.

Is it still true in Unraid 6.4 that if I create a directory /boot/packages and place .txz packages in there, that they will auto install on boot each time?

No, that was never true. The folder that gets packages installed at boot is /boot/extra.

But this is not recommended and not guaranteed to be supported in the future. And as you know, there is already a docker for it. Have you tried the docker? If so, have you tried to get help with it?
