Problems after passthrough GTX 1060

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

I've got a problem with my gaming-rig. Unraid works fine without any crashes or other problems. My main problem is to set up a working vm.

My Windows 7 vm works smooth with a HD7470 but when I change the settings to the other GPU (GTX 1060) it's a bit jerk. For example, you try to open the explorer and you can see how the windows comes off (it's look like a old version of Windows 95). The same with my Windows 10 vm.

I can't find the issue for my problem. I watched all videos of Linus Tech Tips and Spaceinvader One.

So I hope someone of you can help me out :)

I presume you have the latest nvidia drivers?

Might be worth trying swap the gpu slots

Alternatively could dump the bios of the 1060 and try that (That of course presumes the hd7470 is in the first slot). SpaceInvader has a good video on the subject of dumping gpu bios

I think I've got the issue for my problem. I watched the "The best way to install and setup a windows 10 vm Part 2 Hardware Passthrough" from SpaceInvader again and switched the "Enable PCIe ACS Override" to on. Now everthink works fine for me but I removed the HD7470 at the moment. Do you think there will be a problem when I install it again in my pc?

I think the video @antaresuk is referencing is about using 2 Nvidia graphics cards. It explains how to dump the vbios and changes to the VM XML. This is needed when more than 1 video card is present in the same system.

Correct @SSD  I have a 1080ti and a 750ti. The 750ti is in the first PCIE x16 slot and serves as boot gpu and the bios is dumped for XP & linux distro VMs
