Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 with 2x 3Ware CBL-SFF80870CR-05M You picked the wrong cables - "R" in the cable part number means they are "reverse" breakout and are used in different applications (if you ever decide to buy the Norco 4220 or 4224 case you will be able to use one or both as they connect a backplane to the SATA ports on the motherboard or controller with SATA ports) You will need a "Forward" breakout cable - in case of 3Ware the part number should be CBL-SFF80870CF-05M as these are used the connect the SFF8087 port on a controller (such as yours) to regular SATA hard drives. You can use also the Supermicro CBL-0097L-02 cable or any other forward breakout cable (there are a lots for sale on Ebay too)
July 29, 201015 yr You've got the wrong cables. As I also encountered with my Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8, I also got reverse breakout cables at first. You have: 3Ware CBL-SFF80870CR-05M You need: 3Ware CBL-SFF8087OCF-05M The last F & R stand for Forward or Reverse Here is some more info on the issue Here is the page of my build, describing the same problem you have...
