Advice setitng up VM for CCTV software (Win10/Blue Iris)

I am setting up a VM for Blue Iris CCTv software that runs on windows 10 but need some advice on configuring the VM.

 

I have a 2tb surveillance Hard Drive that i want to use, I have thought of these options.

 

Option 1

2tb hdd in Unassigned device passed thro to VM

VM on SSD cache

OS uses the cache and the recordings go onto the 2tb unassigned device

 

Option 2

2tb unassigned device

OS on 2tb

all blue iris recordings on the 2tb
