platyskill Posted February 7, 2018 Author Posted February 7, 2018 29 minutes ago, trurl said: What exactly did you try, and what were the results? DNS Client, Function Discovery Resource Publication,SSDP Discovery.UPnP Device Host i enabled all of those, made sure network discovery was on, it is, made sure the server was master, restarted both computer and server made sure both server and computer were in same group, turned of firewall competently and still nothing, i can also map a folder from said server where my drives are on computer, but i don see the actual server under the networking tab, which means i can't backup anything..
trurl Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Have you tried just putting it in the hosts file on the client computer?
trurl Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 https://support.rackspace.com/how-to/modify-your-hosts-file/ Lots of others come up also when googling "windows host file"
platyskill Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 so i did that and nothing, i'm thinking baout just reseting everything lol
Squid Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Or forget about the whole thing since MS has never quite managed to get that area working 100% even on a strict MS network. Just create a shortcut to the server on Explorer's Quick Launch (Don't even need to use the IP address)
