NAS
Worth a read to see the issues that are here/coming. 3 minute read http://www.pcauthority.com.au/News/221343,hdmi-and-its-stupid-labelling-requirements.aspx Link to comment
neilt0
I've seen worse naming conventions! Also, just about all HDMI cables will support 1080p/24, but if you go to 1080p/60, not all do, particularly when you go to longer lengths. Link to comment
Chris Pollard
seems like a pretty effective way to scam the punters. Link to comment
prostuff1
Wow... What other ways can they make it more difficult to figure out what cable you actually need. I can see my family now, calling me to find out what kind of HDMI cable they need to plug in there TV. It was so much easier when i could tell them to go to walmart and get the cheapest one available as they were all pretty much the same. So we now have 5 different versions of HDMI cable... Someone should go slap the people behind this and tell them that 2 different cables is more than enough. We don't need a Microsoft type tired pricing scheme for freaking audio/video cables. If you have to write a 38 page document on it then there are probably to many choices. Link to comment
NAS
It is obviously all so that the big players can charge alot for different cables. The reality is almost any cable is fine. Problem is the man on the street doesn't know that and there is always some idiot that spouting pseudo science. Good case in point: http://www.noiseaddicts.com/2008/08/jeremy-kipnis-home-theater-6-million/ Link to comment
