July 30, 201015 yr Hello, In January of '08, I bought the 2-License Pro Pack, which was then version 4.2. I built my server, worked out the kinks, and everything's been great. This past week, I needed to build another server, so I took the unused flash drive that I had, upgraded it to version 4.5.6, and built my server (initially with 4 1.5TB drives). Everything seems to be fine except for one odd problem: In the web interface there is no option for adding new top-level folders (I think these are called user shares), nor adding new users (and thus setting permissions, etc.). Can anyone help me out? I have a feeling this is a very easy fix--possibly I didn't do the upgrade properly (although I have upgraded my older server successfully numerous times and the process seems to be fairly foolproof). Thanks a lot, guys!
July 30, 201015 yr You might need to stop the array and then enable user-shares. (then-re-start the array)
July 30, 201015 yr Author Joe, Thanks a lot. That was it. As far as creating new users goes, it was a simple (but similar) matter of changing the share security to "user level." You're awesome, man! Thanks for helping all of us out with our problems....
October 12, 201015 yr Does the array has to be configured and started before you can add users? I have the pro license and have not assigned any drives to the array yet (still have to preclear). Right now, I don't see the option to add users on the User page.

You also have to choose which type of security you want (such as User Security) on either the users or shares page (can't remember which).
