(SOLVED) Disks not visible after upgrade shares OK

Featured Replies

I just helped my brother upgrade from 5.0.3 to 6.4.1. The upgrade seemed to go fine. We had no problems with the server coming up on the network. However, when using either Windows Explorer or Mac Finder, the individual disks were no longer visible. All the shares came up fine and we can access the contents of the shares. We reviewed the "UNRAID problems with windows" thread and googled for other help but could not solve the problem. This is a simple system no plugins. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is normal. Due to the way user shares and disk shares interact, it was deemed safer to disable disk shares by default. If you know what you are doing with disk shares you can certainly turn them back on in settings.

Disk shares are disable by default on v6:

Settings -> Global share settings

I question the need for most people to have both user shares and disk shares though. If you know what you're doing you can avoid the User Share Copy Bug, but if you know what you're doing you can move files around on the server without going through the network anyway.
