Homerr Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 AFAIK this doesn't exist. The whole concept of yanking a drive out and the array rebuilding itself seems like a half-step and leaves the array in limbo during rebuild if I understand how it works correctly. Why not have a 'Move data off disk' button, or more automated sounding 'Remove disk from Array', somewhere so that the rebuild takes place before a drive is physically removed? IIRC WHS v1 had something like this.
doubleohwhatever Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Check out this plugin: https://lime-technology.com/forums/topic/43651-plug-in-unbalance/ That said, I'd really like to see such a feature built into unraid. This feels like it should be a core feature.
-Daedalus Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Agreed. I've brought things like this up before, but the comments are usually: 1) There's a plug-in to do this 2) There's a (relatively involved) procedure for this, check the wiki 3) We don't need this build in, see the first two points In the same vein, unRAID could do with more disk management features in general. Having a "Remove" button for a drive that does what's being suggested here would be nice. Having a "Replace" button, that does this, but also moves the data to a new disk, would be nice as well.
