Infinity Fabric Latency

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've been running some basic game benchmarks on my 2 Windows gaming VMs to measure latency across the infinity fabric (1700x, assuming 0-7 and 9-15 are CCXs).  It appears there is no real slowdown as far as a gaming machine is concerned.  I wanted to generate a thread with averages from the community to help verify/dispute these findings.  It's my hope that either the latency doesn't truly affect games or somehow the windows VM can identify CCXs and schedule around them.  Ultimately, I'm thinking about upgrading to a 1950x and assigning 6-7 cores to each VM, but I imagine others can also benefit from this.

Basic Findings so far (each VM 3 cores 6 threads, 2 left for Unraid, ROTTR):

Single CCX, 86fps

Cross CCX, 84fps

CPU-Z gave identical numbers for the two in multi-core, but I'm not sure how much cross-thread communication occurs in that test.
