Random.Name Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 Well, i wanted to encrypt my drives in my existing array. i bought 2 3TB drives, put them in the array, had them pre-cleared and encrypted. After that i wanted to use unBalance to unload one of the existing Disks (Disk4) to the new disks (5 and 6) When the first drive (Disk 6) got errors and was shut down by unRAID i thought i might have had a bad drive. SO i bought a brand new 4TB drive, replaced drive 6, rebuilt the array and started the Prozess again. This time Disk 5 went into shutdown after the first few GB got copied.... Might be, that both 3TB Drives went bad, but i wondered if this could be a Problem with unBalance or anything else... EDIT: unBalance just keeps copying, even Disk 5 is apparently shutdown and only emulated.... EDIT2: Attached Diagnostics daxserver-smart-20180213-2048.zip

JorgeB Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Both 3TB Seagates show various warning signs, and considering they are the infamous ST3000DM001 I would recommend replacing both.

I am a bit overwhelmed by the amount of information, but eager to learn how to troubleshoot my own errors. I already requested returning them to the seller and as stated before bought a WD Red 4TB as replacement. Thanks again for the patience and help
