Disk shares still showing in my network places?

Featured Replies

Well I have just setup my unRAID server.  I am still waiting on a few bits such as the SAS backplanes for my Norco 4020 and the AOC-SASLP-MV8 cards, but I have enough parts to get unRAID setup and running.  Everything has gone surprisingly smoothly (Other than the server not connecting to the network until I realised I had 'borrowed' the plug socket from the network switch to test the server, doh!).

But I do have one problem;  I have enabled and set up a few user shares, and disabled the disk and flash shares.  But they still show up in my network places.  If I double click on them, explorer just locks up.  If I go to \\Tower then only the user shares show up as they should.  This is on Windows XP btw.  Any ideas as to what is happening?

I think that is a flaw with windows.   You probably need to convince windows the shares no longer exist.  (perhaps re-boot it) or type in a DOS command window:

net use \\tower\flash /delete

net use \\tower\disk1 /delete

net use \\tower\disk2 /delete

Thanks Joe.  That didn't work, but I managed to get rid of them through the registry.  :)
