shaunsund Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Currently, I have a 2x 120G cache pool. I am planning to add a 3rd, but larger, SSD to my cache drives. I'm expecting unRaid to just add the larger SSD as a separate disk (cache 3). As it won't be in a pool, how will it be treated? As part of the 120G (now larger by the new SSD) pool but with only 120GB protected? Or as a separate (from the 120GB) cache pool with it as the only member? Something else? Thanks in advance.
JorgeB Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 It will be part of the pool, it will add 60GB to current pool if using the default raid1 profile.
shaunsund Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 So, if I add a 500G SSD i'll get only an extra 250G?

shaunsund Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 Sounds like I'd be better off replacing the current 2x 120G drives with 2x 500GB (or even just one) based on the calculator. I take it there's no way to create 2 separate btrfs pools for the cache? IE the existing 120G pair existing pool and a separate single 500GB pool?

Not currently, though there are plans to add that functionality in the future, you can keep the 2 x 120GB pool and use the 500GB SSD with the Unassigned Devices plugin.

Any timeline to that feature coming out? I could make UD work in the meantime. Thanks
SSD Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 You could set up the same type of cache pool and mount as a UD. Only thing you would not get is inclusion in user shares.
craigr Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 This feature seems to be exactly what I need; two separate cache drives not a cache pool. It needs to have a share that's included in a user share. I hope this feature comes along soon! Thanks, craigr
