Upgrading to 6.4.1

Featured Replies

Before I upgrade from 6.3.5 I want to move the data off my cache drive just in case.  I'm reading the following below but don't quite understand the following line...

Am I correct in understanding that I need to click each user share that is sitting on the cache disk and set the option "Use Cache Disk" to either "Only" or "Prefer"?  Or is it saying if the Use Cache disk is set to Only or Prefer, change it to "Yes" instead?

"Click on Shares and change to "Yes" all cache shares with "Use cache disk:" set to "Only" or "Prefer"' O

How do I replace/upgrade my single cache device? (unRAID v6.2 and above only)

This procedure assumes that there are at least some dockers and/or VMs related files on the cache disk, some of these steps are unnecessary if there aren't.

  • Stop all running Dockers/VMs
  • Settings -> VM Manager: disable VMs and click apply
  • Settings -> Docker: disable Docker and click apply
  • Click on Shares and change to "Yes" all cache shares with "Use cache disk:" set to "Only" or "Prefer"
  • Check that there's enough free space on the array and invoke the mover by clicking "Move Now" on the Main page
  • When the mover finishes check that your cache is empty (any files on the cache root will not be moved as they are not part of any share)
  • Stop array, replace cache device, assign it, start array and format new cache device (if needed), check that it's using the filesystem you want
  • Click on Shares and change to "Prefer" all shares that you want moved back to cache
  • On the Main page click "Move Now"
  • When the mover finishes re-enable Docker and VMs

Leave it set at Yes.  That'll mover everything off when mover runs.

In the instructions for the new upgrade it says it might be a problem if an older version of UD was used for the cache drive.  How older a version are we talking about?  I think my cache drive was installed with the last year.

Only if UD formatted the drive for you and then you added it as a cache drive.  Looks like UD was changed 2017.09.09 to format drives compatible with unRaid's partitioning scheme

Is there a way to stop mover.  I'm seeing a problem.  I'm seeing the following errors.  As far as I can tell that's coming from Mover.  I think I should have deleted some files first..I thought I had enough room but totally forgot I had copied some large the other nights to my drives...
