unRAID server lurking on network

Featured Replies

Hey guys I have a networking question and maybe I am missing something but I did quite a lot of searching.

When I "browse the network" in Ubuntu, I dont see my unRAID server. The only way to access the server is by going to "Connect to server.." and manually entering the information. Am I not supposed to see the server and all the shares when I browse the Network?

However, when I do the same on windows, I see the server under "Entire Network" and I can see all the shares when I click on it.

I have tried setting the server as "Master" but that doesnt change anything. My network consists of

1 x Windoze machine

1 x Ubuntu Desktop

1 x Unraid server

all connected via a router. The router is setup to assign a DHCP ip to all the machines. The Unraid server has a static address and its name filled in the hosts file on the Ubuntu machine. I didn't have to do this on windoze as it just works.

Any help is greatly appreciated. If I can provide any additional information to help me solve this problem, I'll be glad to. Looking forward to the replies.  :)

When I had issues I made sure all of my hardware was on the same workgroup.

When my unRAID wasn't I could see everything, but my unRAID server.
