Migrating to New Server/Setup

Featured Replies

I have an existing server which is full so I have purchased 8 x 10Tb drives to expand. I have spare kit so could assemble a complete 2nd server to take the new drives. I have an unRAID Pro licence of course (full 26 drive one)

Q1: I assume the smart thing would be to use a trial licence to set up server #2 and set my new drives pre-clearing

Q2: Preclear all at same time? Making sure my fans are at 100% to keep them cool!!

Q3: Whats the suggested number of cycles for preclear these days? 2 or 3?

Then I create a new setup on server #2 and copy all the files over network (gigabit). Not enabling parity until all files are moved!

Q3: Since my key is tied to flash drive, how do I effectively "move" it to server #2?

Thanks for any help or advice offered

When the move is done copy the config folder from the trial server to the licensed flash drive.

Thanks, seems obvious now but thanks!
