March 5, 20188 yr I had a drive go bad. I have plenty of space on other drives in the array so I was trying to get it to rebuild the emulated drive without physically replacing it. I misread the purpose of the New Config as a way to do that. I ran the utility but have not started the array. Is there a way to cancel the New Config so that I don't lose the data once I start the array?

Do you mean you were trying to rebuild to the same physical drive? The reason I'm confused is because of the first part of the sentence: 19 minutes ago, pfitzger said: I have plenty of space on other drives in the array so which doesn't seem relevant to the rest. If you check the box saying parity is valid then New Config will not change any drive contents. Then after you start the array: If this 22 minutes ago, pfitzger said: I had a drive go bad. means the disk was disabled, then you can get unRAID to rebuild it by unassigning then reassigning it. Please let me know if I have misunderstood, or if you don't understand anything I have said.

March 5, 20188 yr Author Thanks for your help. My original drive 7 showed as disabled with lots of errors. I had a spare drive to reassign but it was also bad. I currently do not have another spare physical drives to reassign at them moment. I do have plenty of free space in the array. My goal was to rebuild the missing drive using the space on the remaining drives. Is that possible or I do have to replace&reassign the missing drive to save the date from drive 7? I've attached the diagnostics. bambam-diagnostics-20180305-1108.zip

March 5, 20188 yr Community Expert Your diagnostics show 2 disks that are not reporting SMART. Disk7 (EY4F) and another disk (J54U), possibly this is supposed to be disk2 but by the time the array starts it isn't seen anymore. If you do in fact have 2 missing disks and only 1 parity then no drives are emulated and none can be rebuilt. Check all connections, both SATA and power. Before attempting to do anything you need to get both of these working again and post new diagnostics.
