March 10, 20188 yr I would like to replace my current 4TB parity drive with a 6TB drive; however, I don't have any available SATA ports for the new disk. I believe I can do the following; however, can someone confirm as this is the first time I'm going through this process. Perform parity check Shutdown server Remove current parity drive and connect the new one Turn system back on System will indicate an error in that the parity disk is not connected, so I assign the new 6TB drive as the parity drive Start the array and allow it to rebuild parity At a later date I will be installing an LSI controller card so I will add the older 4TB parity drive back to the array as a data disk. At that time, I assume I can follow the normal process of adding a data disk... clearing and formatting it... there isn't a different process since it used to be a parity disk?
