Login denied after setting "set SSL/TLS" from auto to YES

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

While experimenting with security settings I encountered a major problem.

I am unable to connect to my server. Any login attempt fail.

SSH, web GUI, even directly on the server. Whatever password I enter, the access is always denied.

I've got this problem because I changed a setting under settings/identification/SSL Certificate Settings.

I changed "set SSL/TLS" from AUTO to YES.

I wish I didn't do it...

When I try to login as root or as a normal user it rejects my login credentials.

The server is set to automount upon reboot and to start my win10 VM which it does. I have also access to my smb shares.

The server is working fine but I can no longer access it to configure it.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Because I cannot login, I do not know how to give you more informations like logs, etc.

I did the same thing by accident while trying to enable an SSL certificate.

Shutdown the system and pull out the boot usb stick and insert it in another computer and look in the /config folder for ident.cfg

Find the line USE_SSL="yes" and set it to "auto"

Put it back in and boot.

Maybe the version has changed something but my config folder is empty (no hidden files either).  Is this info saved somewhere else or in another file or would anyone have any other thoughts before I nuke my server?

How are you viewing that?

I put the stick into my win11 machine and opened it in file explorer.  It's completely gone now though.
