L0rdRaiden
Why Pfsense, Sophos XG and other systems doesn't work with anything higher than pc-q35-2.6? Is an unraid issue it's in this way by design? Quote Link to comment
JonathanM
Since unraid uses KVM virtualization, it would be better to research the compatibility with the KVM authors. Unraid doesn't really control what KVM supports and doesn't support. https://www.linux-kvm.org/page/Main_Page Quote Link to comment

It must be something in unraid Quote Link to comment

Is not an isolated issue I am using 2.6 for pfsense because someone in the forum told me that was the one that worked. I will post an screenshot of the error I get when I bot the pfsense machine once I arrive home. Edited March 15, 2018 by L0rdRaiden Quote Link to comment

You have SATA for your vdisk so I tried that - still wouldn't install Then I spotted you only had 1 vcpu - Eureka - that worked Then tried virtio for vdisk - didn't work - made sense Then tried adding 4 vcpus (12,26 and 13/27) like in my vm - didn't work, so I thought I was onto something maybe can't have more than one vcpu at install... so tried different combos of vcpus - some worked, some didn't initially ....and then suddenly they all worked in any combo went back to my 4 vcpus from #4 and now they worked......tried again and fine.... DZMM
Virtio is defo a no-no, for the number of vcpus there's something weird going on as the result with the same config wasn't always the same. Quote Link to comment

works with newer versions than 2.6 Edited March 15, 2018 by L0rdRaiden Quote Link to comment
L0rdRaiden
Are you still having the same problem? I can replicate the problem with pfsense, opnsense, and sophos XG, virtio does not work after q35 2.6 In proxmox it works and It has always work with the new versions of q35. So it must be a bug of the KVM implementation in Unraid. Quote Link to comment
