March 15, 20188 yr I've just realised with a bit of rearranging I can fit a PCI-E 2.0 X1 Sata card into my case. I'll probably in time only run a maximum of 3 HDDs off it as I've only got space for that many in my case. Is there any particular card that anyone has experience with or recommends? This card has a decent rating on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AZ9T3OU/?coliid=I2WAUVHRVP4BGO&colid=3K8H6KPSIL9LS&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it. Thanks in advance for any help
March 15, 20188 yr That one is Marvell, so likely issues if you use vt-d, unfortunately cheap 4 port controllers are practically all Marvell, there's a 2 port Asmedia that works well if 2 ports are enough.

Thanks. I won't be passing it through to a vm - will it be ok then?

March 15, 20188 yr Author Thanks for digging up the thread. I'll keep looking for a non marvell card, or buy one well in advance of needing so I can test in advance. Edited March 15, 20188 yr by DZMM
