August 6, 201015 yr Quick question, I was trying to copy a 40 GB file into my unraid server and there was approximately 30 GB left on each of two drives. When I tried to transfer, it told me that the destination could not be found, but I have no problems accessing the data on the unraid server when it said this. Is it because unraid won't split the file and put it onto two drives and thinks it won't fit? I had just finished moving a 30 gb file into unraid before I attempted this.
August 6, 201015 yr Is it because unraid won't split the file and put it onto two drives and thinks it won't fit? if you have a single 40GB file then you need at least 40GB free on one of the disk shares and probably some extra for filesystem housekeeping. unRAID/User Shares will not split a single file across multiple disks.
August 6, 201015 yr I would not think that unRAID would split the files, you might want to move about 20GB from 1 drive to another then try the 40GB file. Bet it would work then.

Bet it would work then. unRAID will not split a single file to two drives, even if in total they have enough space. It cannot. A single file cannot span two file-systems. Joe L.
