PLEASE HELP 2 HDs Failed, 1 parity drive! :(

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I have only one parity drive and two drives have failed at the same time, i know bum luck !

Question is there anyway to start the array without the two drives (i do know that i will have data loss) but most of my data should still be there.  Also i notice that it doesn't show me the disk it was supposed to be under disk 10 please see screenshot.

any advice would be great, short of copying each disk to other media and placing back on new created array!

Thank you,

Kevin

Most likely a connection issue. Shut down, check all connections, both SATA and power. Then reboot and go to Tools - Diagnostics and post the complete diagnostics zip.

Possibly no data loss will result if we can get it back to a state with all disks present.

Thank you Trurl, it actually was two failed disks, i took the disks out and tried to plug them into another computer, Both heads where clicking :( .  Not a big deal though I have backup,  I ended up doing a new config with two less disks and added a spare disk i had and i'm back in business.  Thanks for the very fast response!

Eh, I had a ST8000VN0022 fail too, died after 8 months.  Replacement was a brand new drive (not a refurb), it's been OK so far, about 4 months in now.
