March 22, 20188 yr All, Here's hoping someone can provide some insight in this problem. I'm trying to build a second UNRAID server using an SuperMicro A1SAi-2550F motherboard. I know the board is good, as it was running FreeNAS 9.4x without a problem a few days ago. I've created he UNRAID USB media (on mulitple known good) USB Sticks using the tool & manually. It does the initial boot from USB fine (Get the GUI boot options), I let it boot normally, however when it goes to mount DEV/DISK/BY-LABEL/UNRAID is fails as it can't see it - even thro it's booting from it. I've tried all the USB Ports (USB2 / USB3), even updated the BIOS to the latest, however it just won't see the stick. If I rebuild the stick(s) has FreeNAS, no problem what so ever it boots and works. What am I missing, as my other UNRAID Server (using ASROCK RACK MOtherboard) worked first time.
March 22, 20188 yr Community Expert As you are probably aware, it is unable to find a device with the volume label "UNRAID". Assuming you have labeled it properly I guess the device has disconnected. And it sounds like you have already tried most of the things we normally suggest. Have you tried booting both UEFI and Legacy mode? There are some other recent threads with similar issues with the very latest version of unRAID. Maybe you should try downloading one of the earlier versions.
March 22, 20188 yr Author Yep the sticks are formatted to FAT32 and I've tried UEFI & Legacy modes - Same issue I tried 6.3.5 - lowest version you can do. It still done the whole /DEV/DISK/BY-LABEL/UNRAID Error (Lots of lines for that version), but then loaded the NIC's but still failed. Guessing because it couldn't load the USB again. Starting to think UNRAID doesn't like the USB controller, however it shows as supported under FreeBSD, so confused again.
