SOLVED! Cache disk unmountable - Upgraded to 6.4, then 6.5 and back to 6.35

Featured Replies

I've poured through the forums in search of a solution, and I've tried many of them.  None have worked.

I've added a used SSD drive, and a brand new one, and my cache keeps showing unmountable.

any help would be appreciated.

I'm currently running 6.35 and when I click to format, it says formatting for while....and then goes back to "unmountable...."

I've unassigned it, restarted, unplugged it, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.  I'm trying to move my appdata and dockers onto a cache so drives aren't spinning all the time.

SOLVED:  Quick point out by Johnnie to say I need to set my cache drive to SATA allowed me to format the cache drive.

2 of the onboard SATA ports (including where the SSD is connected) are set to IDE, enter the bios and change them to SATA/AHCI, set to IDE can cause strange issues in these AMD boards.

Thanks for the catch.  I will log in tonight or tomorrow and update the BIOS.

All 5 of the SATA drives I have now are working, but perhaps the SSD doesn't like that setup.

And just like that...setting the 4/5 type ports to SATA allowed me to format the cache disk.

this forum is awesome and provides great support.  Thank you Johnnie.
