August 7, 201015 yr How big is a sector? Is it 512 bytes or 1K bytes? I have some parity errors in the syslog that look like: Aug 4 09:39:17 saturn kernel: md: parity incorrect: 1510600792 Aug 4 09:43:12 saturn kernel: md: parity incorrect: 1538520440 And one poster said (see http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=7171.msg69742#msg69742) these are in "sectors". Now my array has four 1.5TB and three 1 TB data drives and a 2TB parity drive. So if a sector is 1K then these parity errors are being reported in the last 0.5TB of the parity drive (a region there is no overlapping data drive). To add to the confusion, the unMENU disk management page refers to partition sizes in "blocks" where a block is 1K when you have a spare drive in the system. Regards, Stephen
