Does the current OS, I am using 4.5.6, support the 3ware card's?  I need a SATA card to add drives to my system.

The 3ware 9550SX-4LP 64-bit/133MHz PCI-X SATA II Raid Controller Card worked for me.

It has a Marvel 88SX6401 processor.

 

The cool thing was it supported RAID0 so you could use it to strip the parity drive if you wanted.

I think the Areca was better, but the AMCC/3ware was pretty good too.

If you have the 3ware card, try it.

If not go with the Supermicro card.

The w3are card is working now.  I just added two disks and they're clearing, taking a long time. 

Keep us updated, I.E. let us know when you are online 100% and good or update the Wiki.

Yes, The areca has this issue on RAID Sets also.
