August 7, 201015 yr Does the current OS, I am using 4.5.6, support the 3ware card's? I need a SATA card to add drives to my system.
August 7, 201015 yr The 3ware 9550SX-4LP 64-bit/133MHz PCI-X SATA II Raid Controller Card worked for me. It has a Marvel 88SX6401 processor. The cool thing was it supported RAID0 so you could use it to strip the parity drive if you wanted. I think the Areca was better, but the AMCC/3ware was pretty good too.
