Intel 8700K iGPU passthrough for Plex HW transcoding possible?

Hey all,

 

Was looking at the Intel 7820X at first but since the 8700K has an iGPU i was think if maybe getting that since i can offload much of the transcoding to the gpu.

 

From some of the other threads i have pieced together it looks like it is possible but i just wanted to confirm.

 

My Plex server runs in an Ubuntu VM, I will pass the iGPU to the VM and have a small addin video card for the system itself. I should be able to get the hardware transcoding that way correct?

    Im doing it without dedicated graphic.

    Just passthough to the plex docker server.
