PCIE connector question

So this is actually for my mining rigs, but you guys seem to have a really good handle on hardware...

I have this Silverstone 1300w PSU I bought:

http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=757&area=en

And for some reason the PCIE ("VGA") rail leads are slightly different from all the others I have.

See the picture.

The one on the right is the Silverstone PCIE 6+2 pin and the one on the left is an EVGA GQ series PCIE 6+2 pin.

The middle is a 8 pin to 2x 6+2 pin Y-splitter I bought since the MSI GPU's I have each have 1 - 8pin and 1 - 6pin input for power.

(This would be each PCIE ("VGA") lead from the PSU would power only 1 card, but the rail leads mostly are single 6+2 pin and the cards need a 8pin and a 6pin. The PSU rails are each able to support twice the power of each of my cards so I should be good there.)

Notice the male end on the Silverstone (right yellow) has a square plug at the top on (if you are facing it top right) whereas the EVGA (left yellow) and the female adapter plug both have a rounded one.

I tested it by shoving the Silverstone one into an adapter and powered a GPU at full load for about 20 minutes and it worked... I'm just concerned because I'll have 24 of these total. My guess is that I could round the edges to make it fit better.

But is there a reason it's like this? I mean, the pinout must be consistent or the GPU wouldn't power right?

???

Nothing wrong with the molding. But several modular PSU have added their own twists on the different connnectors.

Some have identical PSU-side connector for 4+4 pin and 8 pin CPU connector and for 6+2 PIN PCI-E. Some have different connector.

The PSU at top of this link shows different connectors for CPU and PCI-E cables:

The Corsair PSU in this link uses same keying for CPU and PCI-E cables:

Well, it seems to be working...

I just shoved the Silverstone PCIE 6+2 into the 8pin splitter and ran with it on my first shelf of 12 cards. Been running for 4 hours now and nothing is hot to the touch (although it's like 58F air temp right now) and everything is working just fine.

I guess it is just janky connectors, but what do you expect for half the cost? :/
