March 30, 20188 yr Hi, I am trying to passthrough a USB device via VM but could not get anything to work. This is what I see if I run lsusb lsusb Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0781:5567 SanDisk Corp. Cruzer Blade Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0764:0501 Cyber Power System, Inc. CP1500 AVR UPS Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:8000 Intel Corp. Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 011: ID 1852:7022 GYROCOM C&C Co., LTD Bus 001 Device 010: ID 1a40:0101 Terminus Technology Inc. Hub Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:8008 Intel Corp. Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub I understand the unraid flash drive is in Bus 002. I am trying to passthrough the port containing the "Gyrocom" device which is Bus 001. My IOMMU settings in Info tab shows "disabled". The VM in unraid can "see" the usb device that i want to passthrough but although it can see it, the usb device is not functional. Question is am I able to passthrough a usb port if I buy an external PCI usb card? If so, which chipset should I go for maximum compatibility. Thanks Edited March 30, 20188 yr by fliptoback
March 30, 20188 yr Since you have iommu disabled, it will not help to buy a new card. You need iommu enabled to pass through PCI cards. Did you install the drivers for your device in the VM?

I have a Asrock H81M-HDS motherboard with a Celeron G1840. HVM says Enabled however. Any way I can get USB passthrough or is it a dead end on this hardware. Edited March 30, 20188 yr by fliptoback

You could try to change the USB mode in the VM template and see if that changes anything. Did you install drivers for the USB device in the VM?

I did not install any usb drives as the operating system in the VM is actually linux based. It is Daphile media server. www.daphile.com I have tried in VM EHCI and XCHI still not helping.

March 31, 20188 yr Author Hi again. So I now install windows 10 in a VM and it recognize the USB DAC that I am connected. But there is no signal coming out of the DAC still so I think unraid docker is preventing the usb from passing through even though the docker vm can see the usb device. Any ideas?

That didn't make much sense to me. Docker and VM are two different systems. If changing the USB mode in the template didn't work, I have no other suggestions for you.
