What is the command line process to kill unbalance and rsync?

Featured Replies

I posted in the unbalance support topic but was hoping someone could help faster if I posted here.

I am trying to scatter 2TB from one disk to a few others. I have unassigned the parity drive to speed the process but the transfer speed is still only 17MB/s it should be 4x that. I want to kill the process and troubleshoot the speed issue. My question is how does one do that. I know the GUI can't kill it but I have seen mention that it can be done via a terminal session.

Can someone post step by step instructions, please?

Thanks

Update... the speed is decreasing very slowly and is now down to 15.5MB/s. At this rate, it will take days to finish scattering.

If you kill it you might split some files in half.

Thanks demonmaestro

however the transfer rate continues to decline and the drive actually seems to be making ticking noises, maybe it's failing... the data is mostly TV show files that can be replaced but still its concerning.

I would like to kill the unbalance process and move the files via MC. Any help would be appreciated.

If I do a system reboot, will that cause any issues other than some split files potentially?
