hawihoney
I own a Supermicro X10SL7-F board with a LSI 9300-8i adapter card in it's PCIe 3.0 x8 (in x16) slot. On that board is another PCIe slot. But this one is 2.0 (not 3.0) and x4 (in x8) only. I would like to buy another LSI 9300-8i adapter (for future use). Would that work in the currently empty PCIe 2.0 x4 (in x8) slot? Mechanical it would fit I guess (in x8). What about electronical compatibility? Thanks in advance. https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon/c220/x10sl7-f.cfm 1x PCI-E 3.0 x8 (in x16) 1x PCI-E 2.0 x4 (in x8) https://www.broadcom.com/products/storage/host-bus-adapters/sas-9300-8i x8 lane PCI Express® 3.0 Quote Link to comment

Yes, there could be some performance issues during parity check and disk rebuilds especially if you're using the onboard SATA ports as that slot is a PCH slot. Quote Link to comment
