Celeron G3900 worth the upgrade over AMD A8? Plex transcoding

Hi all,


First time poster. I have been looking around to see if the Celeron G3900 I have lying around unused would be worthwhile upgrading my current AMD A8 hardware? The passmark is not as high on the Celeron but would taking advantage of hardware transcoding in Plex show me an improvement? 

 

I can get 2 1080p transcoded streams currently on the A8. I have a few dockers running but do not or have no plans to run any VMs

 

Would love to hear from other G3900 owners on how many streams they get.

    QuickSync gets about 5 transcodes, depending on the content.  The CPU has some work to do while Quicksync does it thing, probably about 10% CPU per steam.
