New Server running but slow transfer speeds?

Featured Replies

Hi All

So i have been using xpenology for a while but decided this weekend to change to something "legit" that i dont fear my data on every update. so have now got unraid  running and quickly (or slowly maybe) learning how to use everything (watching lots of youtube) but one thing i can seem to find is why im only getting Half the transfer speed of xpenology.

On xpenology i was getting 109MBs transfer speed (maxing out the ethernet) but with Unraid im getting about 48MB's (the first 100MB or so i get full speed) then it slows.

My system is: (copied from unraid)

Model: Custom
M/B: LENOVO - ThinkServer TS140
CPU: Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1226 v3 @ 3.30GHz
HVM: Enabled
IOMMU: Disabled
Cache: 1024 kB, 256 kB, 8192 kB
Memory: 8 GB Single-bit ECC (max. installable capacity 32 GB)
Network: bond0: fault-tolerance (active-backup), mtu 1500
 eth0: 1000 Mb/s, full duplex, mtu 1500
Kernel: Linux 4.14.26-unRAID x86_64
OpenSSL: 1.0.2n

I currently only have 1 ethernet card in the machine but have a spare 4 port laying about so could bond 5 together but im guessing its not the ethernet thats maxing out im guessing its the way Unraid works? is their a way to solve this ? I do not have a Cache drive as of yet as i felt with xpenology it was quick enough for my applications without.

Drives installed are

4x2tb WD red's

1X4TB WD red (as the parity drive)

I have another 4TB red to go in on my desk but wanted to setup the array and they add another to test that feature

Any ideas?

That's normal using the default read/write/modify write mode, check reconstruct write mode, aka turbo write.

Thank you very much sir, 113MB's now :) did not even have to pause the upload. how did i not find this anywhere....

Thanks again this has made a huge difference.
