Help! Unmountable: No file system

Featured Replies

So before getting to this point, let me say what happened. I upgraded my Unraid server with newer and better components to take my unraid journey to the next level. However, aside from parity, disk#1 , and my cache drive, i forgot the assignment order. Upon reading here on the forums i found out that i could still start the array if i new parity and cache. So i inputed those, as well as my disk #1 (as i knew that) and guessed at the others. When i started the array, i got back the following message from 2 drives:  Unmountable: No file system.

At this point i read that running a xfs_repair -v /dev/mdX might correct things, but i got a fatal error. So i'm stuck and a bit concerned.

My diagnostics are as follows:

I appreciate any help. If i could support the community in any way, i'd gladly do so.

thanks!

Are you sure those disks were XFS?

  • Author

not positive, but they were new when i put them in several months ago. unraid would have then formatted them before usage. right? is xfs not the default?

Can you show us the output from your xfs repair?

surprisingly when i restarted the computer, those errors went away. i'm now doing a parity check to see if its all good. i guess that wraps up this, wouldn't you agree? thanks for your help!!

FYI the disks didn't mount because they were already mounted on UD, you can't mount them twice.
