logging set to disabled in both the normal mover settings as well as the plugin

Why you need logging disabled?

to enable turbo write

you can use cli command : `/usr/local/sbin/mdcmd set md_write_method 1`

Ok so the plugin is not updating the .cron file that is created in the flash drive plugin folder. So when I make changes to the cron schedule in the plugin its not updating the .cron file.

Also I have disabled logging in the plugin but since the cron file isnt being updated its not disabling the logging.

Would I put that here in BEFORE mover? Then set the write method back in the AFTER mover box?

Why not? If you change cron settings and press apply it is save new cron time to config.

If you change cron manually not by plugin you should run `update_cron` after.

Yep, You can try it.

Thats the question. I have reinstalled the plugin multiple times but the .cron file never updates with the new plugin settings.

Im not changing the cron file manually im changing it via the plugin gui. However the file does not change.

Also Force Turbo Write during mover does not work for me when running the mover manually so thats the other issue im trying to solve.

How do you check the cron file if it was changed?

Let's say in total commander I need to reenter to folder to see that file was updated.

Are you using latest version?

How you run mover manually?

Long ago I enabled 'Test dry run' and forgot about it.

After some time I couldn't figure out why nothing was working and I ended up deleting the plugin.

Today, I gave the plugin another try and couldn't make it work up until I noticed the 'dry run' setting. Yikes...

Could you add to notifications, that it was a dry run. Either like a prefix DRY RUN: or suffix (dry run)

In notification? Sure I will add it.

If you have logging enabled you will see Test Mode in log or syslog

I open the file that is created in the flash/config/plugins/movertuning folder.

Either Windows Explorer or nano from terminal. Either shows the same thing.

Thanks for reporting it seems some bug will be fixed in next version.

For now you need to disable and enable again when changing cron time

So that was something I tried already. Doesnt update the cron file. For now I just manually used nano to edit the file then ran update_cron. Turbo write on manual mover still doesnt function after disabling and enabling the plugin. Appreciate your help.

I will check your debug later, but sound like you have enabled cache:prefer? Array to cache move?

Nope, the move direction is cache to array. It happened again this night.

It's always the same amount:

A total of 185025 files representing 393GiB were successfully moved/synced by Mover Tuning plugin. Elapsed time: 3 hrs 13 mins 32 sec

I attached a fresh debug log. To note: I tried adjusting the moving threshold between 80% and 5% - the mover still took the same action and moved the same amount. As an unrelated side-note: Since the "server" is sitting in a room close to my kids room, the 3hrs moving action every night appears to wake up the kids, because the enterprise HDDs are f'n loud. Interesting how configurations of a NAS has effect on sleep patterns. (fun)

As a novice I don't always look in log or syslog. So having it in the notification as well would be ideal. Thanks.

This is should work now. I made the fix for next version.

As far as I can tell it does not run the command to change the write method before starting the mover. I will test when the next update drops.

Edit: Confirmed Turbo Write is not enabled for either the manual or cron initiated mover.

  1. With hardlinks Arr and Crossseed setup, should `Move files tool` be set as Move or Rclone?

  2. Mine was somehow set as Rclone and I noticed when it is moving files that are strictly in a hardlinked folder, such as torrent "/cross-seeds/files" folder, moving these files still occupied space. Is this expected behavior?

  3. If "Move" should be used, I've just tried that and I believe the size calculation may not be working correctly, as the plugin will think it is moving "100GB" of files, but it will fly through thousand of files and no actual data are moved.

Maybe I'm making these too complicated for it is, my goal is to just have the right setup options for a hardlink setup, so let me know which options to set and to what values.

Thanks

Not sure if related, when trying to generate the Debug zip. it will fail with slog messages:

Sep 1 16:48:27 kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev dm-1, logical block 0, async page read
Sep 1 16:48:28 kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev dm-2, logical block 0, async page read

Sep 1 16:48:28 kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev dm-2, logical block 0, async page read

Bump on this in case missed.

Thanks!

You need to check what work best for you.

I'm not using hardlink but some users say rsync work correctly other unraid move.

You need increase gap between thresholds to more than 10%

Also found in logs for many files:

has 1 dangling link(s)
