September 21, 201015 yr Is anyone else experiencing slow download speeds(5-10kbs) with Transmission on unRaid but fast uploads? (120kbs) I have trying tweaking connection settings and all but nothing, never had this problem with utorrent on windows... It is more than likely your ISP doing something to stop the p2p or it could be that you do not have the ports open.
September 21, 201015 yr I thought the same thing but I switched Transmission over to use the same ports that I have open for utorrent and still same results. I thought it was odd.
October 12, 201015 yr Just started using this and it is working pretty well. The only thing that is annoying is that a reinstall of the .tgz is needed (not that big a deal) but that install also overwrites all the customs settings put in place by a previous install. I wish the .tgz file was smart enough to look for the tramsmission folder and not replace the settings file on a reinstall. Obviously I can work around this but it would have been nice for this to be default.
October 24, 201015 yr Is there TLC/EGGDROP capable plugin or script for announcing the finished torrents to the irc ch, or maybe something like irc bot plugin for announcing started and downloaded torrents into the irc, or just the announcer for the downloaded torrents. Seems thats the feature which is missing from the rtorrent, and which other clients were equiped somehow, either community made or its made by the clients dev.'s made it.
November 11, 201015 yr Another confirmation that this works great in 4.5.6. I used my Cache Drive for the downloads, was very easy to install and get set up. Thanks Bubba!
November 13, 201015 yr What would it take to update this to the current 2.11 release? I'd like to know this as well. Is it as simple as installing a newer version over top Bubba's package?
November 13, 201015 yr Author Is it as simple as installing a newer version over top Bubba's package? Yup. I'll update the package after 5.0 proper is out.

November 14, 201015 yr Bubba does not do PMs. Short story is that I created a plugin for unmenu with your package. the unmenu package allows the user to set the variables so they stay persistent. Anyway, your transmission package installs a new libc which causes issues with unmenu. JoeL could explain it better and more in depth since he knows unmenu better than I do. he has been trying to work around it but I don't think he has found a solution.
November 14, 201015 yr Author Decompress the package, remove the libc you don't want, and recompress the package. There will likely be a new libc in the next unRAID, since the kernel and slacky distro are getting updated.

We'll then see if there is something specific in that libc that is needed. Thanks. Joe L.
December 20, 201015 yr You need to log in and start the daemon for now... it does not (yet) autostart. /boot/custom/transmission/transctl start Not sure how to do this, I can access the file by browsing to it over my network, but when I click on it Windows just asks me what program to us to open it. I'm new to unraid, using a beta and don't know how to use it. If I switch to 4.6 is it much easier to do?

You need to telnet into the unRAID server and run the above command once you have run installpkg Do some searching in the forums on how to do that. It has been documented before so should be easy enough to find. Also check out the Configuration Tutorial.

December 22, 201015 yr So I have transmission up and running great now, but I want to move some stuff from my media tank to the "download" folder on the unraid server so I can continue seeding. When I try this it won't let me add anything to that folder or the torrent folder. I go into the folders properties and it won't change from being a read only folder. Any tips on how I can add some files to this download folder? Thank you, Reggie

You may need to stop/kill the transmission process then copy the stuff to the folder, then start up transmission again.
January 3, 201115 yr BubbaQ - Thanks for this package - I am using it on 4.5.6 with acceptable results. Have copied the settings.json after configuring and added a line to simply overwrite the settings file with my own after installing your package (but before starting) in the go script. It sometimes does seem to crash after running for 2 or 4 weeks though, but as I said, acceptable results. Are you still contend with waiting for unRaid 5.0 final before crafting a Transmission 2.10 package ? I can wait if need be (it's starting to feel like a long wait, though), but I thought it wouldn't hurt trying to encourage you to do an update So I have transmission up and running great now, but I want to move some stuff from my media tank to the "download" folder on the unraid server so I can continue seeding. Thank you, Reggie Reggie, I did not have this problem, I have no idea what you mean with a read-only folder I just copied my seeding torrents to the COMPLETED dir (I have set up both a download and completed dirs but I don't think it matters) and submitted their torrents to my watched torrent dir, and voila.
December 11, 201114 yr Im bumping this as im not sure i got the dependences right to get a build that works. Would really like to see someone take a stab at this plg.
December 24, 201114 yr hi, just to let you guys know haven't been around for a while, but i'll probably release a transmission plugin before the year is over have to run some tests, but so far it seems stable...
