Is it possible to pass a RAID to a VM?

Featured Replies

Been poking at some of my co-workers to try unRAID; might have an interested person. However he's already invested himself with RAID, but has interest in Docker and KVM.

Question is, would it be possible to pass the raid controller (it's a separate card) and his drives to the VM? I'm thinking perhaps the controller card could be blacklisted on startup, then PCI address passed through to the VM ...

Any thoughts?  I know RAID cards in general are a no-no for use, but this seemed plausible.

His main interest is Docker, and I have pointed him to the fact there is Docker for Windows. I just want to convert a co-worker or two. :)
