Newbie Mirror Question

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have just bought Unraid and I have finaly set up my new System.  I first had only 1 disk and now I have added the second Disk .

The question is . How can I tell if I am using Mirror Array .

I have attached a Picture of the Array Picture.

I want a Mirror Array of the disk.

Or is it that I have to do it via the Share section and click on each share and assign it to both disk ?

Thanks

unRAID uses parity for data disks, not mirrors, though you can have a raid1 equivalent array  with 1 data disk plus parity.

How do I do this ? Is it via the second screen shot , where I select the disk for each share I have ?

  • Community Expert

You just assign one disk as data and the other as parity and it will be automatically mirrored, shares have nothing to do with that.

i stop the array and when I select Disk 2 and choose "no device". a error comes up saying Disk is missing.. Even thou I can select that disk for the Parity.

Do I have to physical remove the disk of the motherboard and then re-attach it and do it all over again >

There appears to be a some data on disk2, first move it all to disk1, or it will be deleted when doing the below, then:

-Tools -> New Config -> Retain current configuration: All -> Apply

-unassign disk2, re-assign it as parity and start the array to begin the parity sync
