Mettbrot
Hi, I am just getting comfortable with the whole encryption idea and I thought back to the RC phase where I read something about restricted start, but it got removed in a later RC. What is the status of this, I think there is a valid usecase for this: starting the array with only unencrypted disks but still be able to run dockers, plugin, services... bonienl
Restricted start was taken out because during development a number of conflicting situations had occurred. When the array was in a non-perfect state and had unmountable disks, it could happen that the user accidentally and unintensionally formatted encrypted disks with valid information. I don't remember all the details, but it was decided to go for safety first. You could make it a feature request, but back at the time it wasn't 100% foolproof. Quote Link to comment
