unraid 6.5.0 is cacheing nearly all of my system memory/ram

Featured Replies

I don't quite understand what the cache means in terms of how much ram is being used.  I have 16GB of memory in my unraid system.  It reports ~2.65GB used, ~12.64GB cached, with a few hundred megabytes free.  Why is it cache'ing almost all of my memory?  Is this normal?  What does it mean?

Dont Panic! Unused ram is wasted ram. Its good its being used for something.

Should any programs need it, they will get it and the caches are flushed/dropped.

Sounds great.  I was unaware that linux auto cached unused ram like that.  And to know it auto releases on demand.  I'll take it.

Thanks guys!
